We Sang Together; they Heard Us Sing. (yes I know, very cold.)
I received feedback and comments for today's concert - that the singing was off at certain places, the sound could be better, the chords weren't tight enough, and a buncha other stuff (They're all true by the way. Moving forward, let's aim to eradicate all possibility ever hearing a repeat of those comments and feedback ya?). But as I listened to them speak, I felt indignant and quite protective over you guys. Not because they are not valuable feedback, but because they did not see or hear you a month ago. Or even a week ago, and their judgement was made only based on absolute terms; on what they heard today. But when I heard you today, all I could feel was pride.
For the very fact that you were all on that stage together, singing your hearts out and following my conducting as closely as possible, and you didn't sound half bad. Particularly for the evening concert, I felt you actually sing the music, not the notes, as one choir, not as sections. It was a very moving scene. It's not often a conductor gets to watch his/her own choir performing, as an audience, and I was very glad I had this opportunity. Beauty and the Beast was really Beautyful, and not at all beastly. (Gaston, you made me laugh every. single. time. Beauty and Beast, it was really something sweet.) Seeing each and every one of you on that stage, hearing you sing the Beauty and the Beast theme song, it occurred to me how far you have all come as individual singers and as a choir in the last year (or for some, the last few weeks).
Girls, I must thank you for being ever so consistent and unwavering. You bring so much stability to the choir.
Guys, I must thank you for not giving up. You have improved a thousand percent, particularly in the last few weeks, and it is commendable. Please keep it up. And don't just grin in front of your computer screen and forget the words you've just read.
All in all, it's been a pleasure conducting you guys today. I'm looking forward to repeating this line again many more times to come.
See you all on Wednesday!
Cheers,
Ms Yin
All our hard work and efforts have finally paid off, and I hope you people really enjoyed yourselves. So this is what we've been working for months and maybe even years, and we've finally got it!
Hope that this concert really sparked off your true love and passion for this choir and please come back to reality that SYF is just months away!
Will see you people on Wednesday, and please hand in all your ticket money also hahaha.
And someone left a bag full of things at the backstage so please claim it on Wednesday too.
And sec1s and newcomers please prepare to pay for your costumes, and everyone please pay for your necklaces and ties cos we owe Miss Yin alot of money okay.
We'll start working full force towards the SYF and attain the recognition we deserve (which is definitely possibly higher than gold ^^) so please continue your passion and enthusiasm!

hello choir
sheryl
Friday, November 7, 2008
You guys have to make this concert a blast. The audience out there are paying to watch a Gold choir perform. You have to show off that Gold quality in this Choir, and you are gonna do it. This is a chance for you guys to bring up the whole Choir morale.
Concerts usually boost the morale, so give it your all, and then strive to earn that Gold for SYF 09. Yo, Gold is never an easy thing. The whole having-a-gold-for-syf trend in CCHMS Choir used up loads and loads of hardwork, sweat, tears, and sacrifices. You guys have the potential for Honours too okay. All it takes is hardwork, cooperation and really... sacrifice.
Sacrifice for this Choir, and be willing to give your all. This way, when you leave CCHMS you'll never forget this Choir. Because when you look back and see your sacrifices were paid off, that satisfaction in you will be so great it's indescribable.
The comm and you people have been improving tremendously and nothing should bring you guys down now, when concert is just 6 days away. Concerts and competitions have never been destinations for Choir. They are part of your journey in Choir here. So after this concert, anticipate for the SYF. Not "Phew it's over time to slack". It's "Next up, SYF 09. Gold!"
The Gold may be for the school, for the reputation blahblah. But ultimately, it's for you. The efforts you guys put in must be fully paid off, and duh you have to get the Gold then.
ALL THE BEST, CCHMS CHOIR! :) You guys have great potential. I want to see it on 13th Nov, and so will everybody else there :)
Ah feels so great to say all these again.... I miss you guys!

All are to attend unless specified or personally excused by Miss Ng or Mr Loh (not by your SLs). Your SLs will hold extra sectionals at other times and attendance is compulsory. Attendance will be marked for sectionals and Miss Ng can fail your attendance if you don't turn up without a valid reason.
Tuition classes, piano classes, or whatever other classes you have (as usual) are to be re-scheduled in order not to clash with choir practices. Do not expect the whole section or the whole choir to wait for you to catch up with the songs and preparation because you went missing (it's not like the whole choir went tuition with you).
As seen from the schedule we do not have much time left to our concert so please treat everything seriously. If you don't know your songs, ask your SLs or go learn it on your own.
We're not putting up a concert just for the sake of it. Everything that we've accumulated over this period will eventually be useful in the future (especially SYF next year).
And those who've not watched or heard Beauty and the Beast, please take the initiative to go and watch it or listen to it, so that our speed of learning can be doubled. (It's available on Youtube)
Also, I hope you've all prepared your songs for busking, it's coming soon!
Lastly good luck to all Sec 3 HCL students for our O Level paper!

Please get yourselves into groups for busking after EOYs.
Submit your groups to your SLs by next Friday 3rd October 2008.
If your SLs do not receive your group arrangements by then, I will arrange you guys myself.
Each group should (preferably) not have more than 8 members maximum.
Arrange the pieces you wish to perform such that not everyone is singing the melody. E.g. Background singing, harmonizing, etc. But not EVERYONE sings the same thing.
If you don't know what to sing look for Ms Ng who will give you songs to sing.
&Lastly:
Good luck for EOYs ;D

The tagboard is NOT to be misused in such a manner.
Settle your differences, as Nat said, instead of battling it out in such a childish manner while more sensible members of the choir attempt to stop this crap going on.
If anyone leaves irritating or offensive tags, leave them alone.
I will settle those tags personally.

Wasn't today's practice great? Everyone went home smiling and feeling a sense of accomplishment today instead of the usual gloomy faces. It proves to show that we can actually achieve as long as we put in some effort. Although like what Miss Yin said, we aren't really up to standard yet, if we put in effort continuously, we will reach above what we're expected to get.
Since we already took a step forward, why not take a few more steps to reach the finishing line? Trust me, if everyone works together and cooperates, choir would be so much more enjoyable and there will hardly be any conflicts. So why not all of us just play our part, work hard for choir and enjoy the time you have in choir at the same time.

We will do great choir, we will (:

I assume you all know Miss Yin was in a horrible mood on Friday. She probably isn't just angry or irritated or annoyed. She's tired, I would think. And depressed. Because of us.
The choir needs Miss Yin. Whether you guys like it or not, Miss Yin is crucial to our choir's performance. If she were to just give up on us right now and leave us down in the dumps, we can forget about ever rising to the top. I mean, forget it. You guys can't even appreciate the conductor. You can very well forget all those lofty ambitions and fabulous dreams and hopes you have for choir.
I don't think you know how long the teachers, the committee, Miss Yin took to plan the whole going-overseas business. That they were actually hoping for some improvement, that we could really rise about all those problems and make it to become our former Gold standard, maybe even better. I don't think you know all the hopes that were dashed when it was decided that there wouldn't be any chance of going to Europe this year after all. That the concert had been pushed back to year end because we simply weren't showing any improvement. No indication of getting better.
I don't think you guys know how you tested your leader's patience, how you tested everyone's patience. I think it's evident that you've stretched your leader's limits to breaking point this Friday, and this is going to show in next week's sectionals. Because your SLs have decided to come back stricter and firmer with their instructions and come down harder on your faults and mistakes. You don't believe me? This is just something I heard from the SLs:
"Next time they show me pouty faces they're getting out."
"Black faces, weak bladders, and claiming that they can't reach high notes."
"Horrendous attitudes. I won't be so easy on them anymore."
And not to forget that there are people who are angrily ranting on their blogs because they simply can't take it anymore.
I want to reaffirm this. This nonsense has to stop, you hear me? If you don't want to see choir fall and never get up again, then you guys really have to work hard for choir. It's simple really. Some of you people can't even open your mouths. What's up? Jaw problem? Drop your jaw like you're really surprised. Like choir's making some really great improvement and you're pleasantly surprised. Believe me, even this dropping of jaw and lifting of soft palate can make a huge difference. And such differences really start from the individual. In other words, YOU make a difference.
Honestly, choir. I'm not only disappointed. I'm angry. Yeah, I'm pissed off. Just because I, as well as some of the other comm members try not to let it show, there's actually anger churned in with all that disappoint and bitter tears and desperation. Because what has become of this once-Gold choir? Are we even a Bronze now? That I don't know. But I know we're definitely not a Gold. So what, choir? What about all the hard work we did in the past? The sweat and tears of previous choir members, our seniors, previous conductors? It might not matter that much to you but think of all the hopes and aspirations everyone has pinned on us. I'm just angry because, this could mean the end of choir. The end of all that hard work. What a waste. I came into this choir, and it might be disbanded because of a bunch of people who never seem to be able to open their golden mouths or ears? I'm not going to let everything golden in the past die in the course of a year. Never!
I am prepared to fight for this choir. I'm willing to bet that Sheryl, too, has fought hard for this choir even though she hasn't been president for even half a year! And nobody can ever forget the efforts and tears of Miss Yin, or the guidance and patience of Ms Ng and Mr Loh. But bear in mind, there's only SO MUCH that WE can do. Sure, comm has added responsibilites and rules to enforce. But there's no choir if there's only comm, because EVERYONE plays a part in the singing. You might say that you have a passion for singing. Yeah, the passion's there, what next? Empty waiting and hoping? Bullshit. You guys can do better than that!
I'm setting you guys a challenge, okay? Let's not rely on last minute miracles anymore. Show us, show Miss Yin, show Ms Ng and Mr Loh that we're fully capable of achieving that Gold, or hopefully Goldwh standards with determination and hard work and not have to pray for Lady Luck to beam down on us at the very last minute. Show that, we can get the concert repertoire fully prepared and beautiful-sounding AT LEAST two months before concert (I've been told this is a professional standard). Which means we have to start preparing now. It's really time to wake up and look at the damage we've done, and start picking up the pieces and get ready for a brighter future ahead. If concert is to be in early December / late November, you guys have to get all the pieces given to us ready by September, and show me that you're capable of good, honest, hard work in all our weekly practices. Also, I hope that the SLs can prepare the given pieces before having to teach the juniors, so that you won't stumble and waste time during sectionals. Okay? (:
I think you've strained your leaders enough, cut them up bad enough, and tortured them badly enough already. You know what? If you guys don't show improved attitude, I can guarantee you that next sectionals can be made hell for you, because, as I've mentioned earlier, your SLs won't be so kind anymore. Things have changed, and it would do you good to know that. And I don't believe in empty threats. Call this a threat if you will.
Lastly. I don't want to hear any shit about how standing up for forty-five minutes without break is torture because you haven't been able to learn your notes. Stop all that crap right now. Stop all your rebellious attitudes. If you have any problems you can bring them up to me. I'll try to address your concerns and... issues. And if you guys don't wake up now, don't wait till it's too late before you cry and say that you're sorry.
PS: I don't want to hear any nonsense about how this post is too wordy and makes you NOT want to read it. I don't care for such attitudes. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN. In fact, if this is the sort of attitude that you want to show, I think choir can do without you. If you won't even spend time trying to assess the situation and stop to take a look at what everyone is trying to do, I think you can just get out of choir, really. If you want to make comments, fine. Show me your name. I won't eat you. I think.

How did you feel after today's practice?
Do you know how Miss Yin feels about us?
If you don't, let us tell you. Its nothing positive, really.
We're practically throwing everything down the drain, everything we've learnt for the past few months. Once and again, we kept showing hope and then reverting back to point zero. Not only do we not gain anything from it, we also disappoint the people who have hope in us. Remember what the other teacher said at the workshop? That we disappoint and hurt many people around us without realising it.
We didn't want to say this, but the choir's attitude sucks.
The SCs and SLs have been doing more than enough for the choir ever since we started as a comm. Those who were at the workshop saw how brave we were. With what nerves did we get to that workshop with only SIX GUYS. And how did we manage to stand up there and sing for the other mighty big choirs? We didn't go there to be laughed at, feel threatened and screw ourselves up. We managed to do it, just that this passion didn't last for long (unfortunately).
Do you all like to watch people shed tears? Do you all like to listen to people nag and nag at you?
Do you all think we enjoy conducting this kind of solemn talks again and again?
Some of you totally tarnished our choir's name and reputation at the workshop.
Making racial discriminative comments,
Leaving a mess in the canteen,
Acting like a bunch of wild people on the loose,
Having totally no stage etiquette?
This is not something that should be coming from a gold choir.
And not only will the choir's reputation be tarnished, the school's reputation will be tarnished too.
Do you want people to say that students in chung cheng cannot behave?
Or has no basic respect for others?
Now the choir concert's being postponed, don't you guys still harbour hopes of going to Slovakia.
You should know that chances are incredibly low, and our repertoire's not even confirmed yet.
So stop rolling your eyes and showing us your attitude and black face. Its time to put a stop to all these, choir. Like Ms Ng said, the choir doesn't have time for this kind of people. We have alot to do, and we seriously have no time to spare for those childish people.
Continue on with this attitude and we can promise you the choir will disband one day, and Miss Yin will leave us for good. Please don't wait till it happens then start regretting your actions. By then, everything would be too late. Make a change now, to prevent it from happening, or even close to happening.
Your (seriously disappointed) Choir Comm.

Adieu Sweet Amarilis - by CCHMS CHOIR
:)
Thanks for the Farewell Party, we sure had fun today :D The singing of the songs (Everyone Sang, Little Birds, Sinten, Agnus Dei, etc) brought back so much great memories. The SYF 07, the December Concert last year....
Time sure flies, I never thought I would have a Farewell Party for us so soon. I remember when we just auditioned to this choir, when we were just juniors who had no idea what support was and would sleep or talk occasionally during boring sectionals (okay please don't do this), when we from this Choir, grew up. Things here in Choir are full of ups and downs, yet it's from all these where we get those best memories.
Sigh, there has to be a time when we part with the Choir. But the cliche stuffs repeat here~ Physically we're no longer there, but emotionally and spiritually, yeah we're still there. Lol the journey for us Sec4s doesn't end here. The singing will never be done~!
Thank you Ms Yin, for being there for the Choir even when things don't go well. Thanks for holding on to us not letting us go, and not giving us up. Although we all miss Mr Lai and Mr Low as our conductors, but now, CCHMS Choir is your choir. In our eyes the only conductor we saw has been you. We all have been looking up upon you, as one who has been with the Choir through thick and thin, and as someone we've learned many things from-- singing techniques etc and also values. We salute you! The practices we had with you were great, really. We will definitely remember all the things we've learned in this choir and some of us will continue to be a chorister when we head on to JC/poly :)
Thank you Ms Ng & Mr Loh, for doing so much so the Choir. You guys have been supporting the Choir and also teaching us many important stuffs, techniques as well as keeping the right attitudes. We are truly thankful that you two teachers are always more than willing to contribute to this Choir. Best teacher-in-charges ever!!! :D
Last but not least, thank you Choir, for the times we shared in our practices and sectionals and workshops and concerts and SYF. You guys truly have the potential. Don't care about whether people think you can't make it or whatever crap. TRUTH IS, YOU ALL HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A GOLD-CLASS CHOIR. Hello, we managed a Gold last year. Next prize has to be Honours. No way am I gonna hear anyone say it's impossible. It's only impossible if you think it is. Please everyone, work hard for it. The sense of achievement you'll get just feels so good. Be and stay determined to succeed with whatever you guys do-- workshops, concerts, competitions, etc. You will be surprised with the results with full determination and commitment. Quantity is secondary, quality is primary. Make us good enough for people to JOIN us, instead of making the whole school audition for the choir with 90% unwilling. You guys gotta prove yourselves. And you can! Yesterday's workshop, you guys proved it! Well done for yesterday, people! :) Don't be complacent, though. CONCERT!! Be sure that you guys make this concert a blast, so good that it's worth more than every cent the audience pay. Be the outstanding aesthetic group, be the "WOW" choir, and impress.
Choir #56 returns! :)
-Sec Fourzx
Hope you had fun today at the Sec 4 Farewell Party, but a new school term starts next week and it's really time we started bucking up for the concert, 'cos this could really make or break our chance to go overseas. We should have started bucking up long ago, but it's not too late to do your share right now.
It would be a waste of time to talk about poor attendance and attitudes, because I'm sure Miss Lim mentioned all of that at our workshop yesterday. So I hope you guys see how much we affect others, and choir doesn't just concern ourselves, but others as well. Take pride in choir, no matter how much others might look down on you. Guys, no doubt people will say that choir is a sissy CCA for guys to join, but throw all such thoughts to the wind - Singing isn't a crime. Girls, understand that the comments that conductors and leaders provide are really for your own good (like what your mother says); if we don't even know where we go wrong, we'll never improve, like it or not. Don't take what we say as a personal attack. If we say anything that offends you, we're sorry, but we really have to move on.
Realise that not only our reputations and prides are at stake, think of our seniors, and Miss Ng, and Mr Loh, and Miss Yin. Think of Mr Low. We want them to be proud of our choir. And we want to be able to hold our heads high when we proudly declare that we are from choir. Choir will be every bit as important as CO and Band, but do you all have the determination to succeed?
Let's not use our attendance as an excuse for our far-from-stellar performance (because we could do so much better) right now, because we really have to learn how to survive even with smaller numbers. It's small, but if we're powerful, no doubt we'll still be as good as any other humongous choir outside.
Lastly, be aware that the choir will not tolerate the spreading of unnecessary rumours. Please get your priorities right. Know that we have no use for such people in choir. We need people with the correct mindsets to constantly learn and improve, as well as their very own passion for singing.
Don't break any more hearts, choir! (:

(By Ms Ng)
SEC4 FAREWELL PARTY
(or the "Sacrificial Ritual", or whatever ceremony that Isaac said.)
CHANGE OF TIME!
12.30PM TO 2.30PM
ALL TO ATTEND
(That means, if you're going overseas please show passport. If you're sick show MC. Other than that all not accepted.)
CHOIR TEE or any other school tee
Comm to bring your presents for the person you're succeeding (?)/the person that formally took your position!
Miss Yin will be dropping by tomorrow also, and lunch will be provided.
We'll be playing games, sharing sessions, small performances (like Jianwei being tied to a stick and Isaac dancing to Daemon as promised) etc.
ALSO,
FRIDAY'S PRACTICE:
CANCELLED.
Something you guys should know: You SHOULDN'T be cheering for yourselves after you have finished your performance, especially when you're still on stage. You might be happy, overwhelmed, excited or whatever, but it's just inappropriate. Go read up on choral stage etiquette on the net to know more, in case some of you continue to show some weird behavior that's unacceptable next time.
And a note, let's just forget about what happened in the past few weeks, start again and try harder when term starts okay. We don't want to make anyone disappointed anymore. (:
Your SC,
Christina :D
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
It's been awhile, people. Now. Things, may not be as smooth as you want it to be. But this always happens. It happens every year, when we all face attendance problems, standard drops, but at the end of the day, we always get to the top. We always succeed. But why is it that we always have to wait till the eleventh hour, then we start working hard?
Choir practices should never have been miserable. All of us should always be there to sing because we want to, and to learn because we want to, and never because we have to. We're all here for a reason. To play a part in this choir. And when you just joined as a Sec1, you came here because you think this choir's pretty good. You came here because you want to feel good too, belonging to a good choir. We may not be the best. No. We may not be the best yet. So each and every individual plays a vital role in contributing to this choir. Be it small or large extent, be it you're just a member or a committee member, who cares. You just give in. I mean, it's only fair that you contribute with everyone else.
It's not easy being the President, the Conductor, the Teacher, the Section Leader, or even the Member of the choir. It's never easy. But what, are you all just going to give this up?
Members: Stop relying on committee and Ms Yin to tell you things like, "Smile... Open your mouths... Pls come for choir practice... Pls don't be late" You should know these. You guys are not puppets, you guys know what to do, so do it. Don't just sit and wait for orders. Committee's not there to wipe your asses for you. You don't have to be a committee member to go the extra mile for the Choir. Your contributions, whether it's in a small/large extent, are also important to the Choir. So don't be afraid, just do it! Still, there's still this thing called Respect, so you do not rebel against the committee and Ms Yin.
Committee: You guys are the chosen ones, I believe you all know what to do. Even if you feel lost now, just do it. Just do what you think is good for the choir, and magic happens! Your confidence will bring you way further than where you are aiming for. Most importantly, work together. Not in clusters not in cliques. There are past experiences, and results are, it's so much harder to get things done in clusters than together.
I doubt whatever I say will inspire you that much, but just think about it. Think about why you're here in the first place. And just think about how much you've done for Choir. It's not too late to feel guilty whatsoever, seriously. Because if you do, the perfect time to start to buck up is now. For the SYF '09. For the Choir's future reputation. It all depends on you.
:) All the best, everyone!
Miss you all,
Natalie, x-prez
Due to our "commendable" try on Adieu Sweet Amarillis and our unsuccessful attempt for Daemon Irrepit Callidus,
SECTIONALS TOMORROW BEFORE WORKSHOP!!!
7.30AM
CONCOURSE
AND WE MEAN IT.
(Everyone's supposed to be here, on time.
Unless you think that you and your section is so good that you can make a miracle happen on stage tomorrow, you better turn up.)
ANYWAY, here are some things the teachers observed today and you all should think about it.
Our behavior was really out of control, especially the girls who kept running around and talking and screaming and dancing etc. I know we only have 7 guys and other choirs might be laughing at our quantity but please do not be disheartened about it. Even though the other choirs are much bigger than us but please remember WE'RE ALSO A GOLD CHOIR LIKE THEM.
So, PLEASE REVISE DAEMON AND ADIEUS TONIGHT AND PUT IN YOUR 100% FOR TOMORROW FROM 7.30AM ALL THE WAY TO 5+PM OK.
And for those who're new to this workshop system, our choir suffered a very bad fall at one of the workshops some 1 year and 7 months back. (You can go and ask your most-senior seniors about it: the aftereffect of the workshop was totally nasty.)
SO, if you do not want to feel sad and cry and whatever after tomorrow's workshop
PLEASE CO-OPERATE WITH YOUR LEADERS
PAY ATTENTION
SING TO YOUR FULLEST AND BEST
Furthermore, we rarely get to see Miss Lim so please impress her.
And you guys saw Mr Low today, please do not disappoint him by flopping your performance.
AND MISS YIN WHO'S ALWAYS BEEN WITH US, DON'T DISAPPOINT HER AGAIN!
And don't disappoint Ms Ng and Mr Loh, who's been trying very hard to plan our concert.
And don't disappoint your leaders, who's also trying their best to let the choir pick up.
AND DON'T DISAPPOINT YOURSELVES, you've been spending your whole holiday on choir don't let your efforts go to waste alright.

CHOIR RULES
CCHMS CHOIR RULES
1. PUNCTUALITY
If choir starts at 3pm, that means you are to be seated in your sections with all your scores for the day ready to sing the first note at 3pm (not reach the choir room at 3pm).
2. WARM-UPS
Warm-ups exist to ease your voice for a suitable state for good oral projection. So take your warm-ups seriously, do not fool around or chatter during warm-ups. Listen to your student conductors (Christina and Marilyn) so that we can proceed for sectionals quickly.
3. SECTIONALS
Sectionals are there for you to practise section singing, sectionals help confirm what you have practised on your own at home. Including the correct rhythms, lines, pronounciations, dynamics and breathing patterns.
Sectionals are not a time for you to socialize/ gossip/ sleep/ learn your notes. They should have been done before practise or at home (in the scenario that you want to sleep).
4. COMBINED
Combined is meant for the whole choir to come together and combine what has been learnt at home and at sectionals. Combined should focus on improving ensemble, and should not be a note-learning/ socializing session.
Remember: You can practise the notes on your own at home. But you only get two chances a week to work on group ensemble. Do everyone a favour, learn your part well and everyone can leave the choir room on time in a good mood.
5. CLEANLINESS
The room is a communal area where everyone gets to do their practise. Being blessed with two air-conditioned rooms all to yourselves for practise is a luxury. (Imagine yourselves practising on the parade square)
So, keep the choir room neat and tidy. Throw all litter into the bin even if it not yours. Chairs should be folded and stacked neatly at the sides of the room and scores should not be lying around haphazardly all over the floor.
NO FOOD AND DRINKS AT ALL TIMES.
6. SCORES
Make sure your file up your scores neatly and bring them everypractise. There should be no sharing off scores. No loose/ torn/ unwanted/ salted-veg lookalikes scores are to be seen at all times.
Make sure you have a pencil with you during practise so as to note down the important things your SLs or conductor has said.
If you loose your scores, you are responsible for replacing it yourself as the comm is instructed to hide the scores from your prying hands (in case some major shortage of scores occurs again).
The scores you are supposed to bring are listed in the choir songlist.
7. MISC.
Check the details of the next practise from the choir noticeboard (in the canteen besides the taps). Contact your friends/ SLs/ comm members/ teachers if you are unsure. Always double-check with someone else, one source is not always the most reliable one.
Do not quote personal reasons (eg tuition/ hostel laundry time/ seeing teachers etc) as an excuse and expect the choir to do something about it because it is not as if the whole choir is going to tuition together with you. The choir time is fixed for majority, you should be responsible for any clashes with practise occuring in your life.
8. CHOIR COMMITTEE
The choir committee is there to run the choir smoothly. They are just like any other choir member, just with extra responsibilities. So respect them and listen to them and show them your appreciation.
Do not demand them to show you attendance books, or bargain for attendance.
For the Committee:
Your role in the choir is very important as you are the leaders of the choir. Without SLs, sectionals will never work. Without conductors, warm ups and combined will never work. So be responsible for your own actions. Your role in the comm comes with great responsibility, so treat your role in the comm with respect, and help to bring the choir to greater heights.
Lastly,
Members who fail to fulfil the duty of a choir member (ie turning up for practises, learning you songs, bringing your scores etc) consistently will be sacked eventually, whether you are in comm or not because being in comm doesn't make you more superior.

Important announcement!
ALL SECTION LEADERS TAKE NOTE: Please collate all ideas and give them to me.
Also, please do not give the same ideas as your friends. Let's all be constructive in this brainstorming. We all want more $$$ after all. Like who wants to perform in a run-down concert hall (who knows the piano we rent may even be off-key and last tuned since a decade ago, or rusty music stands, or even platforms with gazillion splinters), print tickets that are barely attractive, advertise in a budget yet super low class, and worst of all, pathetic audience number because our concert already seems so not worth paying for?
Although the school will give us some cash, we'll need to fork out a sum of money as well. If you all want to perform in a more "WOW" concert, with classy concert halls etc, start putting on your thinking caps now! Get started on the brainstorming, perhaps grab some of your choir friends, sit down and think together and come up with ideas (maybe before Choir starts?)!
NO IDEA IS A BAD IDEA.
Concert is in August. May, Mid years exam. June, holidays. So now's the perfect time to plan our fundraising for our concert so we can start the fundraising asap :D
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Some tips:
1. Sell things? What things? Do they appeal to the school esp. students? Attractive? Practical? Profit high?
2. Maybe not sell. Perform? Busk? Practical? Can earn money? Profit high?
3. Maybe sell and perform at same time? Can earn money? Profit high?

ALL IDEAS TO ME BY NEXT CHOIR PRACTICE!

Notice.
Time: 3-6pm
Venue: Choir Room #03-03
Sec4s are to head straight for Choir after your Structured Academic Programme till 5pm.
Attendance have always been taken, so everyone should be coming.
Those who do not attend Choir practice tomorrow will jolly well have to explain to me, Ms Ng and Mr Loh. So unless you have a valid reason, I will see you in Choir tomorrow.
And as you can see from the previous post, we didn't really achieve our New Year Resolutions, so this tells us that we'll have to start working harder and be more serious during practices. I hope there will be full strength tomorrow, including Sec 4s, so we can start producing the Gold Choir sound again :)
