Choir.
I assume you all know Miss Yin was in a horrible mood on Friday. She probably isn't just angry or irritated or annoyed. She's tired, I would think. And depressed. Because of us.
The choir needs Miss Yin. Whether you guys like it or not, Miss Yin is crucial to our choir's performance. If she were to just give up on us right now and leave us down in the dumps, we can forget about ever rising to the top. I mean, forget it. You guys can't even appreciate the conductor. You can very well forget all those lofty ambitions and fabulous dreams and hopes you have for choir.
I don't think you know how long the teachers, the committee, Miss Yin took to plan the whole going-overseas business. That they were actually hoping for some improvement, that we could really rise about all those problems and make it to become our former Gold standard, maybe even better. I don't think you know all the hopes that were dashed when it was decided that there wouldn't be any chance of going to Europe this year after all. That the concert had been pushed back to year end because we simply weren't showing any improvement. No indication of getting better.
I don't think you guys know how you tested your leader's patience, how you tested everyone's patience. I think it's evident that you've stretched your leader's limits to breaking point this Friday, and this is going to show in next week's sectionals. Because your SLs have decided to come back stricter and firmer with their instructions and come down harder on your faults and mistakes. You don't believe me? This is just something I heard from the SLs:
"Next time they show me pouty faces they're getting out."
"Black faces, weak bladders, and claiming that they can't reach high notes."
"Horrendous attitudes. I won't be so easy on them anymore."
And not to forget that there are people who are angrily ranting on their blogs because they simply can't take it anymore.
I want to reaffirm this. This nonsense has to stop, you hear me? If you don't want to see choir fall and never get up again, then you guys really have to work hard for choir. It's simple really. Some of you people can't even open your mouths. What's up? Jaw problem? Drop your jaw like you're really surprised. Like choir's making some really great improvement and you're pleasantly surprised. Believe me, even this dropping of jaw and lifting of soft palate can make a huge difference. And such differences really start from the individual. In other words, YOU make a difference.
Honestly, choir. I'm not only disappointed. I'm angry. Yeah, I'm pissed off. Just because I, as well as some of the other comm members try not to let it show, there's actually anger churned in with all that disappoint and bitter tears and desperation. Because what has become of this once-Gold choir? Are we even a Bronze now? That I don't know. But I know we're definitely not a Gold. So what, choir? What about all the hard work we did in the past? The sweat and tears of previous choir members, our seniors, previous conductors? It might not matter that much to you but think of all the hopes and aspirations everyone has pinned on us. I'm just angry because, this could mean the end of choir. The end of all that hard work. What a waste. I came into this choir, and it might be disbanded because of a bunch of people who never seem to be able to open their golden mouths or ears? I'm not going to let everything golden in the past die in the course of a year. Never!
I am prepared to fight for this choir. I'm willing to bet that Sheryl, too, has fought hard for this choir even though she hasn't been president for even half a year! And nobody can ever forget the efforts and tears of Miss Yin, or the guidance and patience of Ms Ng and Mr Loh. But bear in mind, there's only SO MUCH that WE can do. Sure, comm has added responsibilites and rules to enforce. But there's no choir if there's only comm, because EVERYONE plays a part in the singing. You might say that you have a passion for singing. Yeah, the passion's there, what next? Empty waiting and hoping? Bullshit. You guys can do better than that!
I'm setting you guys a challenge, okay? Let's not rely on last minute miracles anymore. Show us, show Miss Yin, show Ms Ng and Mr Loh that we're fully capable of achieving that Gold, or hopefully Goldwh standards with determination and hard work and not have to pray for Lady Luck to beam down on us at the very last minute. Show that, we can get the concert repertoire fully prepared and beautiful-sounding AT LEAST two months before concert (I've been told this is a professional standard). Which means we have to start preparing now. It's really time to wake up and look at the damage we've done, and start picking up the pieces and get ready for a brighter future ahead. If concert is to be in early December / late November, you guys have to get all the pieces given to us ready by September, and show me that you're capable of good, honest, hard work in all our weekly practices. Also, I hope that the SLs can prepare the given pieces before having to teach the juniors, so that you won't stumble and waste time during sectionals. Okay? (:
I think you've strained your leaders enough, cut them up bad enough, and tortured them badly enough already. You know what? If you guys don't show improved attitude, I can guarantee you that next sectionals can be made hell for you, because, as I've mentioned earlier, your SLs won't be so kind anymore. Things have changed, and it would do you good to know that. And I don't believe in empty threats. Call this a threat if you will.
Lastly. I don't want to hear any shit about how standing up for forty-five minutes without break is torture because you haven't been able to learn your notes. Stop all that crap right now. Stop all your rebellious attitudes. If you have any problems you can bring them up to me. I'll try to address your concerns and... issues. And if you guys don't wake up now, don't wait till it's too late before you cry and say that you're sorry.
PS: I don't want to hear any nonsense about how this post is too wordy and makes you NOT want to read it. I don't care for such attitudes. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN. In fact, if this is the sort of attitude that you want to show, I think choir can do without you. If you won't even spend time trying to assess the situation and stop to take a look at what everyone is trying to do, I think you can just get out of choir, really. If you want to make comments, fine. Show me your name. I won't eat you. I think.

HELLO GUYS ;D

Zokay so anyway Altos altos altos my dear altos:we used to be a very, Extremely bonded part of the choir.
we had our own differences, but we settled it out well in the end.
we didnt like certain people at the start, but we meshed well in the end.
we werent really on form 24/7, but we pulled through in the end.
However, fr the altos now, I dont think your 'ends' are v near, in fact I heard,
and Im sorry to say this(:/), that you guys are far from being near the ends.
The altos I knew were superduper cooperative, they put up wiv whatever nonsense I had fr them, they respected their fellow members, seniors, and all levels of authority, and they totally ruled my world, I even miss them up tillnow (:
So can we pleaze continue the CCHMS alto spirit by buttoning up our first collar button and do silly things together: laugh as one, cry as one, win as one.
my dear sec1 juniors: you dont know me but I do know you( :) ), yes each and everyone of you, please do heed my advice and continue to take things seriously in choir okay. Keep up the good job and look forward to choir, instead of finding it a chore(which i did last time, im wrong and guilty i know pls forgive me :x), youll learn to realise that choir is such a fun place to be in.(!)
keep the alto spirit burning, cuz CCHMS choir is in fr a big revival, Im waiting fr the GOLD or GWHs fr your next SYF okay, maybe I'll see you guys soon!
I luv the altos :D
(yar, and the whole choir as well luh)
sec1s &altos who are not in the photo just slot yourselves somewhere in the alto family portait,
keep altos gelled and bonded okay,
cuz thats what we're supposed to be and will always be {:

Hey choir.
How did you feel after today's practice?
Do you know how Miss Yin feels about us?
If you don't, let us tell you. Its nothing positive, really.
We're practically throwing everything down the drain, everything we've learnt for the past few months. Once and again, we kept showing hope and then reverting back to point zero. Not only do we not gain anything from it, we also disappoint the people who have hope in us. Remember what the other teacher said at the workshop? That we disappoint and hurt many people around us without realising it.
We didn't want to say this, but the choir's attitude sucks.
The SCs and SLs have been doing more than enough for the choir ever since we started as a comm. Those who were at the workshop saw how brave we were. With what nerves did we get to that workshop with only SIX GUYS. And how did we manage to stand up there and sing for the other mighty big choirs? We didn't go there to be laughed at, feel threatened and screw ourselves up. We managed to do it, just that this passion didn't last for long (unfortunately).
Do you all like to watch people shed tears? Do you all like to listen to people nag and nag at you?
Do you all think we enjoy conducting this kind of solemn talks again and again?
Some of you totally tarnished our choir's name and reputation at the workshop.
Making racial discriminative comments,
Leaving a mess in the canteen,
Acting like a bunch of wild people on the loose,
Having totally no stage etiquette?
This is not something that should be coming from a gold choir.
And not only will the choir's reputation be tarnished, the school's reputation will be tarnished too.
Do you want people to say that students in chung cheng cannot behave?
Or has no basic respect for others?
Now the choir concert's being postponed, don't you guys still harbour hopes of going to Slovakia.
You should know that chances are incredibly low, and our repertoire's not even confirmed yet.
So stop rolling your eyes and showing us your attitude and black face. Its time to put a stop to all these, choir. Like Ms Ng said, the choir doesn't have time for this kind of people. We have alot to do, and we seriously have no time to spare for those childish people.
Continue on with this attitude and we can promise you the choir will disband one day, and Miss Yin will leave us for good. Please don't wait till it happens then start regretting your actions. By then, everything would be too late. Make a change now, to prevent it from happening, or even close to happening.
Your (seriously disappointed) Choir Comm.

hi choir
hi choir.sry that i broke down the other day in front of all of you,i really couldnt help it.watched the video people? see how much we can actually achieve? we are DE GOLD CHOIR OF THE CENTURY.why not put in effort? like what i said before, driving yourself solely on passion and talking abt how much u love choir aint just going to work like that. you must not only come for choir, you must also make an effort to revise and practice the songs at home yourself.coming to prac means combining pieces, stregthening as a section during sectionals and work hard towards our goals, be willing to learn and accept each other.PLEASE RESPECT YOUR SENIORS, THE PERSON STANDING IN FRONT. and one thing i must stress.THE TEACHERS, MS YIN AND ME WILL NOT TOLERATE PEOPLE WHO SPREAD NONSENSE AND ACCUSATIONS. i don want to see people showing unhappy faces at the leader or whoever u don like because this is utter disrespect. try standing in front and lead.you'll see how much courage that takes.choir, we're just like a sleeping lion.our prowess never left us, but we ourselves abandoned the 'magic' we used to do. we are going to wow the audiences judges whatever. we will be the best, the most bonded badge ever to have existed in chung cheng.we work and sing as one. united as one, divided we fall.come what may people, we'll strive on. we will not let anyone nor anything hold us back. OK? pls turn up EARLY for choir. not juz PUNCTUAL.choir starts at 3.30 so don come in at 3.30. the first note should start at 3.30 hear me? we will sing well, show ms yin that we are worth her time and effort.we will make miracles happen, we will show the school that the choir is a place where we sing, play, and go through weals and woes TOGETHER. no man is an island, please cooperate and be more understanding. no one is to be biased against anyone.we're one big family. this choir has so much potential, we aint gonna just leave it the way it is.make an effort people.prac and warm up at home, slowly you'll realise that the airiness will be gone.no more nasal sound already.-contributed by isaac.something he found on the net. please take good care of your voice, we're going full power to the concert!!

Adieu Sweet Amarilis - by CCHMS CHOIR
:)
Thanks for the Farewell Party, we sure had fun today :D The singing of the songs (Everyone Sang, Little Birds, Sinten, Agnus Dei, etc) brought back so much great memories. The SYF 07, the December Concert last year....
Time sure flies, I never thought I would have a Farewell Party for us so soon. I remember when we just auditioned to this choir, when we were just juniors who had no idea what support was and would sleep or talk occasionally during boring sectionals (okay please don't do this), when we from this Choir, grew up. Things here in Choir are full of ups and downs, yet it's from all these where we get those best memories.
Sigh, there has to be a time when we part with the Choir. But the cliche stuffs repeat here~ Physically we're no longer there, but emotionally and spiritually, yeah we're still there. Lol the journey for us Sec4s doesn't end here. The singing will never be done~!
Thank you Ms Yin, for being there for the Choir even when things don't go well. Thanks for holding on to us not letting us go, and not giving us up. Although we all miss Mr Lai and Mr Low as our conductors, but now, CCHMS Choir is your choir. In our eyes the only conductor we saw has been you. We all have been looking up upon you, as one who has been with the Choir through thick and thin, and as someone we've learned many things from-- singing techniques etc and also values. We salute you! The practices we had with you were great, really. We will definitely remember all the things we've learned in this choir and some of us will continue to be a chorister when we head on to JC/poly :)
Thank you Ms Ng & Mr Loh, for doing so much so the Choir. You guys have been supporting the Choir and also teaching us many important stuffs, techniques as well as keeping the right attitudes. We are truly thankful that you two teachers are always more than willing to contribute to this Choir. Best teacher-in-charges ever!!! :D
Last but not least, thank you Choir, for the times we shared in our practices and sectionals and workshops and concerts and SYF. You guys truly have the potential. Don't care about whether people think you can't make it or whatever crap. TRUTH IS, YOU ALL HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A GOLD-CLASS CHOIR. Hello, we managed a Gold last year. Next prize has to be Honours. No way am I gonna hear anyone say it's impossible. It's only impossible if you think it is. Please everyone, work hard for it. The sense of achievement you'll get just feels so good. Be and stay determined to succeed with whatever you guys do-- workshops, concerts, competitions, etc. You will be surprised with the results with full determination and commitment. Quantity is secondary, quality is primary. Make us good enough for people to JOIN us, instead of making the whole school audition for the choir with 90% unwilling. You guys gotta prove yourselves. And you can! Yesterday's workshop, you guys proved it! Well done for yesterday, people! :) Don't be complacent, though. CONCERT!! Be sure that you guys make this concert a blast, so good that it's worth more than every cent the audience pay. Be the outstanding aesthetic group, be the "WOW" choir, and impress.
Choir #56 returns! :)

Hey Choir:
Hope you had fun today at the Sec 4 Farewell Party, but a new school term starts next week and it's really time we started bucking up for the concert, 'cos this could really make or break our chance to go overseas. We should have started bucking up long ago, but it's not too late to do your share right now.
It would be a waste of time to talk about poor attendance and attitudes, because I'm sure Miss Lim mentioned all of that at our workshop yesterday. So I hope you guys see how much we affect others, and choir doesn't just concern ourselves, but others as well. Take pride in choir, no matter how much others might look down on you. Guys, no doubt people will say that choir is a sissy CCA for guys to join, but throw all such thoughts to the wind - Singing isn't a crime. Girls, understand that the comments that conductors and leaders provide are really for your own good (like what your mother says); if we don't even know where we go wrong, we'll never improve, like it or not. Don't take what we say as a personal attack. If we say anything that offends you, we're sorry, but we really have to move on.
Realise that not only our reputations and prides are at stake, think of our seniors, and Miss Ng, and Mr Loh, and Miss Yin. Think of Mr Low. We want them to be proud of our choir. And we want to be able to hold our heads high when we proudly declare that we are from choir. Choir will be every bit as important as CO and Band, but do you all have the determination to succeed?
Let's not use our attendance as an excuse for our far-from-stellar performance (because we could do so much better) right now, because we really have to learn how to survive even with smaller numbers. It's small, but if we're powerful, no doubt we'll still be as good as any other humongous choir outside.
Lastly, be aware that the choir will not tolerate the spreading of unnecessary rumours. Please get your priorities right. Know that we have no use for such people in choir. We need people with the correct mindsets to constantly learn and improve, as well as their very own passion for singing.
Don't break any more hearts, choir! (:

*LATEST UPDATE, AGAIN!*
(By Ms Ng)
SEC4 FAREWELL PARTY
(or the "Sacrificial Ritual", or whatever ceremony that Isaac said.)
CHANGE OF TIME!
12.30PM TO 2.30PM
ALL TO ATTEND
(That means, if you're going overseas please show passport. If you're sick show MC. Other than that all not accepted.)
CHOIR TEE or any other school tee
Comm to bring your presents for the person you're succeeding (?)/the person that formally took your position!
Miss Yin will be dropping by tomorrow also, and lunch will be provided.
We'll be playing games, sharing sessions, small performances (like Jianwei being tied to a stick and Isaac dancing to Daemon as promised) etc.
ALSO,
FRIDAY'S PRACTICE:
CANCELLED.
Something you guys should know: You SHOULDN'T be cheering for yourselves after you have finished your performance, especially when you're still on stage. You might be happy, overwhelmed, excited or whatever, but it's just inappropriate. Go read up on choral stage etiquette on the net to know more, in case some of you continue to show some weird behavior that's unacceptable next time.
And a note, let's just forget about what happened in the past few weeks, start again and try harder when term starts okay. We don't want to make anyone disappointed anymore. (:
Your SC,
Christina :D

Something you guys should know: You SHOULDN'T be cheering for yourselves after you have finished your performance, especially when you're still on stage. You might be happy, overwhelmed, excited or whatever, but it's just inappropriate. Go read up on choral stage etiquette on the net to know more, in case some of you continue to show some weird behavior that's unacceptable next time.
And a note, let's just forget about what happened in the past few weeks, start again and try harder when term starts okay. We don't want to make anyone disappointed anymore. (:

Christina :D

Choir:
It's been awhile, people. Now. Things, may not be as smooth as you want it to be. But this always happens. It happens every year, when we all face attendance problems, standard drops, but at the end of the day, we always get to the top. We always succeed. But why is it that we always have to wait till the eleventh hour, then we start working hard?
Choir practices should never have been miserable. All of us should always be there to sing because we want to, and to learn because we want to, and never because we have to. We're all here for a reason. To play a part in this choir. And when you just joined as a Sec1, you came here because you think this choir's pretty good. You came here because you want to feel good too, belonging to a good choir. We may not be the best. No. We may not be the best yet. So each and every individual plays a vital role in contributing to this choir. Be it small or large extent, be it you're just a member or a committee member, who cares. You just give in. I mean, it's only fair that you contribute with everyone else.
It's not easy being the President, the Conductor, the Teacher, the Section Leader, or even the Member of the choir. It's never easy. But what, are you all just going to give this up?
Members: Stop relying on committee and Ms Yin to tell you things like, "Smile... Open your mouths... Pls come for choir practice... Pls don't be late" You should know these. You guys are not puppets, you guys know what to do, so do it. Don't just sit and wait for orders. Committee's not there to wipe your asses for you. You don't have to be a committee member to go the extra mile for the Choir. Your contributions, whether it's in a small/large extent, are also important to the Choir. So don't be afraid, just do it! Still, there's still this thing called Respect, so you do not rebel against the committee and Ms Yin.
Committee: You guys are the chosen ones, I believe you all know what to do. Even if you feel lost now, just do it. Just do what you think is good for the choir, and magic happens! Your confidence will bring you way further than where you are aiming for. Most importantly, work together. Not in clusters not in cliques. There are past experiences, and results are, it's so much harder to get things done in clusters than together.
I doubt whatever I say will inspire you that much, but just think about it. Think about why you're here in the first place. And just think about how much you've done for Choir. It's not too late to feel guilty whatsoever, seriously. Because if you do, the perfect time to start to buck up is now. For the SYF '09. For the Choir's future reputation. It all depends on you.
:) All the best, everyone!
Miss you all,
Natalie, x-prez

*LATEST CHANGES!*
Due to our "commendable" try on Adieu Sweet Amarillis and our unsuccessful attempt for Daemon Irrepit Callidus,
SECTIONALS TOMORROW BEFORE WORKSHOP!!!
7.30AM
CONCOURSE
AND WE MEAN IT.
(Everyone's supposed to be here, on time.
Unless you think that you and your section is so good that you can make a miracle happen on stage tomorrow, you better turn up.)
ANYWAY, here are some things the teachers observed today and you all should think about it.
Our behavior was really out of control, especially the girls who kept running around and talking and screaming and dancing etc. I know we only have 7 guys and other choirs might be laughing at our quantity but please do not be disheartened about it. Even though the other choirs are much bigger than us but please remember WE'RE ALSO A GOLD CHOIR LIKE THEM.
So, PLEASE REVISE DAEMON AND ADIEUS TONIGHT AND PUT IN YOUR 100% FOR TOMORROW FROM 7.30AM ALL THE WAY TO 5+PM OK.
And for those who're new to this workshop system, our choir suffered a very bad fall at one of the workshops some 1 year and 7 months back. (You can go and ask your most-senior seniors about it: the aftereffect of the workshop was totally nasty.)
SO, if you do not want to feel sad and cry and whatever after tomorrow's workshop
PLEASE CO-OPERATE WITH YOUR LEADERS
PAY ATTENTION
SING TO YOUR FULLEST AND BEST
Furthermore, we rarely get to see Miss Lim so please impress her.
And you guys saw Mr Low today, please do not disappoint him by flopping your performance.
AND MISS YIN WHO'S ALWAYS BEEN WITH US, DON'T DISAPPOINT HER AGAIN!
And don't disappoint Ms Ng and Mr Loh, who's been trying very hard to plan our concert.
And don't disappoint your leaders, who's also trying their best to let the choir pick up.
AND DON'T DISAPPOINT YOURSELVES, you've been spending your whole holiday on choir don't let your efforts go to waste alright.
