Also, those who have not pay for the tickets, please bring the money on that day. It should be around $30 or less, not sure of the exact price. Those who are not going, unless you have told Mr Loh or any other teachers about it, I think you still need to pay for the ticket. I will inform you about it.

Those who haven't been appointed, please do not be disheartened and lose your passion for this choir and singing, 'cos these are the people who are very "unluckily" going to work themselves out for the choir for the next year. Also, we wanted to give the seniors more chances and opportunities to experience being leaders, thus majority elected this year are sec 3s.

New committee, all the best in leading this choir. It's been great (or sometimes not so) conducting this choir for the past 2 years and everything, thank you everyone for being part of a choir that brings people's emotions to life (be it happiness or sadness or anger).

Due to the cases of students infected with H1N1 in our school, the choir camp will indefinitely be cancelled. Wednesday's practice and the school's SYF Aesthetics Showcase is also cancelled. Also, we would like to reduce the number of people involved in the school's 70th Anniversary Dinner performance to minimise the risk of community spread.

Therefore, only Thursday (25/6)'s practice is still on. Those who feel that there is a need for you to pull out of the anniversary recording and performance due to the H1N1 cases are free to do so, but inform your SLs first.

Farewell & Handover 2009 is also cancelled. New committee will be announced someday somehow by someone while Sec 4s will have to compromise and make do without a proper farewell. Members are to also stop harrassing your SLs to ask them about who were the people who contracted the flu virus.

Also, there will be no refund of your $4 for camp because we already bought all the materials needed, ordered all your food, and the farewell presents before all this chaos happened. So stop asking your SLs on why you can't have your $4 back because WE ALREADY USED THEM UP. Those who haven't paid are expected to pay still. It would be very kindly appreciated if all of you co-operate with your SLs' instructions, especially at this point of time where everything is left in a mess.

Only those who are involved in anniversary dinner recording and performances are required to turn up for practices. There will be no need for Sec 4s to come back for future practices anymore.

Hi guys,

I hoped everyone dutifully submitted their $4 to Peiru in order for the comm to start working on the camp. (Yes we need your money for the materials to let the camp proceed, eg we need your money to book your meals or you can just starve and die halfway, seeing how our choir loves to eat. I mean, you guys only think and talk about eating when you're on a break or dismissed tsktsk.)

And I need your cards like soon.

I'll be dropping in soon on you guys to nab some people to do some "making-of" of the camp stuff.
Meanwhile, be good and have fun doing your 1001 pushups/ jumps - while singing.

Also, to the person who has complained about the layout of this place, I'm not exactly in the mood nor do I have the patience to mess around with the template now (or ever). (I've learnt my lesson after repairing the old layout that went bonkers) So I suggest maybe you can wait for the next comm to take over and I'll refer your suggestions to them and they can do whatever they want then. Furthermore, the mood of the choir definitely will not and there's no reason for them to be affected just because of the layout.

And also, I guess no one else was really saddened/shocked by the news of Miss Ng's leaving that really saddened and shocked the comm.

Hey choir!

ACJC Choir will be having their concert An Evening with Friends on the 1st of June, 7.30pm at the Esplande. Tickets are sold at $24, those interested can come and look for me (as usual). And in case you didn't know, Natalie our ex-pres is singing so please go support!

Anyway, we will welcome all of you back to choir this Friday (22/5) at 3pm on the dot at Choir Room! Bring your Kasar and Cui Dong Cui scores (yes, them again and them still) cos we're going to have a public performance on the 3rd June with all the east zone school choirs and everyone's doing their SYF pieces. And yes, that's 4 practices to make the choir get back on track and wow the audience again.

As for Sec 4s, 3rd June will also be our last practice with this choir.

Alot of seniors, ex-conductors, parents and loads of people have been with us throughout our progression to today. Always be mindful that this is only the beginning, next practice will be after midyears/prelims on 22nd May!

GOLD!

We've done it choir!
Please be mindful that this gold didn't come easy. How we've worked through our Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays (and then Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) these few months and how many times we've failed terribly at workshops or even during our own practises.
And please, please do not commit the same mistakes again and then drop all the way to COP then go up to gold 2 years later cos it's super scary.

No words can describe the amount of gratitude and love we owe Miss Yin. You guys better get honours next SYF to make up for her depression and sorrows over us for the past few months (or even since she took our choir).
Also, Miss Ng, Mr Loh and Miss Cheng has been absolutely supportive of us all these while. Organising exchanges for us, maintaining attendance, excusing us from lessons and all.
Miss Lim's help has been very useful to many of us too.
Mr Poh and Miss Chai's guidance helped us to keep on track.
We also have to thank (ahem) the Committee, especially the (ahem) Student Conductors (which is me and Marilyn hahahah) and the SLs (Marilyn, Ashley, Weishan, me, Peiru, Zann, Asaph, Isaac, Keith and Xiaotong) for always tolerating your nonsense and sacrificing our voices to scream and shout at you and call you back for extra sectionals though you all don't ever turn up.
And of course, everyone single one of these 53 of you who have spent your hours and days and never gave up and contributed to this gold.

And we also should thank Chun Chun Hoarse Voice Tea for keeping our throats safe and sound. Which is thanking Miss Yin again.

Please assemble at 8.30am sharp tomorrow at choir room in your costumes (and girls with your makeup).
We will leave for VCH at about 9.45am and return to school sometime around or after 1pm.
You will not attend flag raising and cause confusion between the teachers, not allowed to go for any lessons or whatsoever.

What to bring/wear:
Girls - Gown, black court shoes, makeup (foundation, blusher, lipstick, eye colour: ALL LIGHT COLOURS, STRICTLY NO FAKE EYELASHES OR MASCARA OR GLITTER LIKE WHAT SOME OF YOU DID FOR OUR CONCERT), comb, lots of black hairclips.

Boys - Blazer, white shirt, pants, black leather shoes, black high socks, school tie. (Don't spike your hair until you look like you got an electric shock, but don't need to gel it until it's super shiny and flat also cos it'll be super obiang).

All - Water!!! (You can bring the tea Miss Yin gave out, but don't bring big huge bottles and give Miss Ng more things to do.) Bring all your lucky amulets and whatsoever yada yada.

There'll be a SYF debrief session on Saturday at choir room. Attendance is compulsory, Miss Yin and Miss Lim will be there and we'll get to know various marks and comments from all seven judges.

You are excused from the second period onwards but you'll return to class at 1.40pm (which is only 5 minutes for those who finish at 1.45pm).

VJ Choir will be staging Symphony of Voices 2009, 14th May 7.30pm at the Esplanade.
Tickets are priced at $20, $30 and $40.

Please be reminded that there will be practice every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 6.45am in the LT 1. Miss Yin will be coming down personally to take us for the short 30 minutes session, so I hope everyone cooperates and make full use of the time.

Please also explain to your parents that these morning practices is necessary as our SYF slot is (again) in the morning so we have to get used to singing in early mornings. Yes, everytime we get morning slots we have morning practices.

Tomorrow's (18/3) practice venue will be changed to choir room instead as it will be TKGS choir's turn to come over tomorrow for practice.

So please show good discipline and warmth as hosts tomorrow (if you get to see them haha).
And I want everyone to give in their best and all tomorrow, don't want to hear any disappointing nonsense from you all again when the sec 4s come back!

And, practice is as usual on Saturday also, from 8 to 11.30am. Girls are reminded that you are to bring your shoes for every Saturday practice. That means we'll see each other for the whole of the March holidays, everyday. Unless you have valid reasons.

Regarding the CCA points debate on the tagboard. It is most possibly true, but leaders, that doesn't mean that you lose your sense of responsibility and passion in leading your section and the choir. You are chosen as a leader because the teachers see a particular unique quality in you, so please do not disappoint them just because you are probably not getting points for the extra commitments. For those who feel there is a problem with this, please voice out to the school directly cos its their decision. And, Miss Ng has already finalised the committee so there would be no more changes unless she finds that people are not doing their job well, then she'll pull them out.

Hello people,

You all have heard Ms Yin's and Mr Loh's comments about today's (heave a sigh of relief but a not our standard at all) performance, so I guess this is the wake up call for some of you to realise that this is reality and you can't escape it by thinking everyday that "We're gold, we have been gold, and we will be 'cos some great miracle will happen." Because it won't.

Good news (or bad, whatever you call it) for you guys is that, we'll have our one and only SYF Rehearsal on Wednesday (25 Feb) at VCH from about 9am to 12pm. Everyone will report to choir room immediately after flag-raising cos we'll do warm ups and all. For girls, if you have your cot shoes please bring them along so that you can feel the torment of singing and standing still for a whole 15 minutes or so in heels. This is probably our first and last time rehearsing at the actual venue before SYF, so please treat it seriously.

All tenors and basses please be reminded that you will have sectionals on Monday from 5 - 6.30pm at Choir Room and attendance is compulsory (as requested by Mr Loh and your SLs, and Mr Loh will be there).

Everyone is supposed to have memorised Kasar, Cui Dong Cui and White Horses by Wednesday 3pm.

Last but not least, the list of people who owes the choir money for choir tee:

Also, people who haven't paid for choir black file must pay $3 to Kuo Xian by Wednesday. Same, no choir file, then no scores for you, then that means no choir.

Next workshop will be next Saturday (28 Feb) at Hwa Chong Junior College, and by then we'll probably have our new choir tee so please kindly await the details.

SLs who wish to conduct additional sectionals in choir room outside choir schedules please contact either me, Peiru or Zann for the keys.

Hello choir,

Please take note that there will be choir practice every Saturday from this week (7 Feb) onwards, from 8.30am to 11.30am (might drag if progress not up to expections). I know everyone will be saying how early it is or how it's hogging up your weekend, but in order to get our gold (or whatever it is that you all want), we have no choice to have additional compulsory practices.

It's not just us sacrificing our beautiful Saturday mornings (however beautiful it can get), Miss Yin, Miss Ng, Mr Loh and Miss Cheng will be with us also, so don't complain cos we can't hear them and we're not going to hear them. :D

Bring along all Kasar, White Horses and Cui Dong Cui scores and your pen/pencil (for notetaking)!
And come in proper school attire, not home clothes and slippers or else you'll get into trouble at the gate before you can even come and sing.
Please approach your section leaders if you have any inquiries (not complains).

Hello people,

Due to the loud demands for updates by our fellow members, I shall come and nag about practices! ;D

Please be reminded that practice resumes this Friday, 3 - 6pm at the choir room!
Hope all of you recovered from the Chinese New Year gig already and are ready for SYF preparations.
Bring along your scores (Kasar, White Horses and Cui Dong Cui) and be on time if you have no valid excuse to absent yourself.
And hope that none of you really gorged on new year rubbish until you lost your voices!

P.S. Those who were not present for the rehearsal on Thursday afternoon to fill in your particulars, please come forward and update your particulars with me on Friday.
(Cos the committee needs it to track you all down one by one heh heh)
